What we help with
Our Expertise
Six areas of work, one aim: make information and technology genuinely useful for the people building, owning, and operating real assets.
Strategic Implementation
Every organisation has different needs, so implementation should too. Whether it's BIM, Golden Thread, CDE setup, or wider information management, Dan Black Digital builds each strategy around the organisation itself, using the four stage process below.
Step 1 of 4
Assess
Getting to know your business to understand your current capabilities and processes.
Step 2 of 4
Align
Aligning the BS EN ISO 19650 BIM standards to your current business approach.
Step 3 of 4
Adopt
Ensuring your newly aligned BIM process is adopted in practice on all projects.
Step 4 of 4
Adapt
Reviewing your adopted BIM process and adapting the approach where required.
Information Management & CDE
Information Management only works when it's built around how your teams actually operate, not around a template pulled from a previous project. We help you set up Exchange Information Requirements, BIM Execution Plans, and Common Data Environments that hold up under real project pressure, and that your team will actually keep using once we're gone.
What's included: EIR and BEP drafting or review; CDE design across the Work in Progress, Shared, Published, and Archive states; delivery planning through MIDPs and TIDPs; and support carrying information cleanly from construction into asset management.
Suited to organisations without in-house Information Management capability, or projects where the CDE has become unmanageable.
Golden Thread & Building Safety
The Building Safety Act asks Duty Holders to keep accurate, accessible information about a building throughout its life, not just at handover. Most organisations already hold much of what's needed, just not in a form that would survive scrutiny. We help turn what you have into something genuinely audit ready.
What's included: readiness assessments against current Golden Thread requirements; clarity on your specific obligations as Duty Holder, Principal Contractor, or Principal Designer; support producing Safety Case Reports; and an ongoing process for keeping the thread current, not just complete on day one.
Suited to Duty Holders, Principal Contractors and Principal Designers working on higher-risk buildings.
BIM Advisory & Capability
BIM tends to succeed or fail on process and people rather than the software licence involved. We work with your teams directly, from EIR requirements through to day to day coordination, to make sure BIM earns its place on the project rather than just satisfying a tender requirement.
What's included: BIM maturity assessment; workflow and coordination advice suited to your actual project types; clash detection and quality assurance process design; and direct upskilling so fewer decisions depend on a single specialist.
Suited to organisations with ongoing compliance and governance needs, not just a one-off project.
Self-serve
Learn at your own pace
Prefer to get started on your own terms? Our self-paced courses and ready-to-use templates cover ISO 19650, CDE governance, Golden Thread compliance and more, giving individuals and smaller teams a practical way to build capability without a full engagement.
